Ojibwa Lodge Stories, which Schoolcraft later gave the subtile Muzzeniegun, an Ojibwa word meaning a printed document or book, contained articles, poems and announcements on all aspects of Native life and customs.

Schoolcraft joined the expedition as a mineralogist, and this is the journal of his participation.
